tell Gem - Web App

A web application developed to increase disclosure rates of sexual assault, abuse and rape within structured organisations.

The project, in a nutshell

We worked with tell Gem to design and develop a platform for schools to roll out to their students, which empowers pupils to disclose incidents of sexual assault (occurring on or off school property). There are many reasons that student disclosure rates for sexual assault are worrying low (including shame, fear of not being believed, fear of getting into trouble, or getting the perpetrator into trouble). The tell Gem app has been engineered as a safe place to report assault (anonymously if preferred), and to seek guidance, support and signposting to local resources that can help.
The app was designed to capture sexual assaults and harassment in all forms, providing schools with important and useful data to assist them in implementing better safeguarding measures. For example, if data shows that a significant number of incidents occur in a particular area of the school, the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) can proactively put better procedures in place to make these areas safer. Similarly, if a school can see a pattern in reporting which involves a particular individual - then protective safeguarding and preventative measures can be actioned. An increase in disclosure rates should allow education institutions to better care for their students, and so the app’s initial proof of concept focussed on maximising disclosure as its primary aim.

Bad Dino seamlessly translated my vision into reality. They are professional and highly personable team who understood the complexities of the sensitive subject matter. Knowledgeable about design and functionality, their insight into what young people would engage with was invaluable. Individual parts of the project were achieved in a timely manner and they always attended to change with patience and clarity. I can't recommend Bad Dino strongly enough!
